Staking on the tournament winner boosts the experience of a football tournament for many punters
The odds for a tournament winner are usually released before any others and you can find a list of the Women’s World Cup favourites above.
The favourites ahead of tournament typically have the lowest odds, while those teams with an outside chance will have higher odds.
The range of odds on offer are set for a serious boost
Never before have more competitive odds been on offer than for this year’s Women’s World Cup. The competition amongst teams and the talent on offer has alerted many to this year’s tournament. The viewership and the range of odds on offer are set for a serious boost.
If you’re considering placing a bet on the Women’s World Cup winner it’s always good to do your research. Below we’ve listed some key things to consider when backing a team to be the Women’s World Cup winner.
Here are some of the key things to consider before you bet on the Women’s World Cup winner:
- Current form - how has that particular team been performing ahead of the tournament?
- Form in recent tournaments - how has the team performed in previous Women’s World Cups or even if they have taken part in recent regional championships. Always make a distinction between friendly games and competitive games in order see the proper form of a team going into a tournament like this.
- Squad selection - Who are the first names on the team sheet? Are there any injury worries? Who has the manager been picking in recent games ahead of the World Cup?
Who will be the Women's World Cup Top Scorer?
Another popular form of betting across the whole tournament and it’s no different for the Women’s World Cup is to bet on the top scorer.
The odds for the Women’s World Cup top scorer haven’t been released yet.
As with placing a bet on the Women’s World Cup winner there are a number of important things to consider before you back a bet. Let’s take a look below.
Here are some of the main things to consider before staking a bet on the Women’s World Cup Top Scorer.
- Current form: How has the player been performing for their club over the season, as well as in their country’s warm up games. Does the player perform in key games and more importantly at tournaments or will she go missing?
- How many games is she likely to play?: Is the player you’re looking a mainstay in the starting 11 or used more as a squad player?
- How far will her team go? It’s important to pick a player on a team who are likely to go to the latter stages of the tournament. The more games she plays, the higher the chances she will have of scoring more goals.
- What sort of tactics will the team used? It’s important to know what kind of football that team will go for. A top attacking player might have great potential for goals but negative tactics on the field can make all the difference.
Women’s World Cup Betting: Betting on the match
Betting on individual matches is one of the most popular ways to bet on a tournament and this is no different when it comes to the Women’s World Cup.
For the world’s biggest tournaments like the Women’s World Cup, the majority of betting sites offer a wide range of odds for individual games
Betting on the Match Result (1X2)
Placing a bet on the match result is easily the most common type of football betting and that’s no different when it comes to Women’s World Cup betting.
Placing a bet on the match result is simple, easy and quick which is just one reason why it’s so popular.
Full time result odds or match odds are the most popular form of odds market available. Any betting site offering Women’s World Cup betting and Women’s World Cup odds will always have match result markets available before anything else.
On many betting sites you will likely see match result odds written as (1X2). This refers to the three different potential results you have to bet on. Betting on the home team in the match is written as (1), betting on the match finishing in a draw is written as (X) and betting on the away team is always written as (2).
Double Chance
When placing a match result bet but you’re not sure which of the three options to bet on there is another way. Betting on double chance or a draw no bet is a great way to give yourself an extra option when it comes to match result betting.
Double chance is basically saying you will back two of the three available options when it comes to match result betting. This can either be by backing the home team and a draw (1X), backing the away team and a draw (X2) or betting on either team to win the match (12).
If you’re betting for the home team as well as a draw (1X) you would go on to win the bet with either of those outcomes. It if the away team would win it would be counted as a loss.
If you would choose to back either a home team or away team win (12) you would win the bet if either team was to win the match. If the match ended in a draw you would lose the bet.
Let's say England are playing Argentina (England vs. Argentina) in the Women’s World Cup Group Stage and you're not sure who to bet on. You decide to bet double chance to give yourself more options.
Option 1: You bet double chance on a home team win or a draw (1X)
- England win = winning bet ✅
- Draw after regular time (90 mins) = winning bet ✅
- Argentina win = losing bet ❌
Option 2: You bet double chance on an away team win or a draw (X2)
- Argentina win = winning bet ✅
- Draw after regular time (90 mins) = winning bet ✅
- England win = losing bet ❌
Option 3: You bet double chance on either team winning the match (12)
- England win = winning bet ✅
- Argentina win = winning bet ✅
- Draw = losing bet ❌
Draw no bet
Having the option to place a draw no bet (DNB) gives you a type of insurance policy. A draw no bet is different from double chance betting in one key way. Double chance betting gives you two chances to place a winning bet, whereas a draw no bet will still only deliver one option.
A draw no bet means you place a bet on either the home team or away team winning the game. If the match ends in a draw you would receive your stake back.
Always remember that with double chance bets as well as a draw no bet the available odds are always going to be lower because with a double chance there is of a risk in backing two options.
As is the case with a draw no bet, the actual risk of losing a bet is lower because one of the options would mean your original bet would be returned.
Let's say you're betting on a Women’s World Cup group match between Sweden and the USA (Sweden vs. USA). You're pretty confident that you think one of the teams will win the game, but because they are both good teams you think it might end in a draw. You decide to place a draw no bet.
Option 1: You decide to place a draw no bet on USA winning the match
- USA win = winning bet ✅
- The game ends in a draw = money bet ➖
- Sweden win = losing bet ❌
Option 2: You decide to place a draw no bet on Sweden winning the match
- Sweden win = winning bet ✅
- The game ends in a draw = money bet ➖
- USA win = losing bet ❌
