Less is more at Molineux
It is the battle of the Portuguese gaffers on Sunday when Nuno Espirito Santo welcomes Jose Mourinho to Molineux, with both sides looking to bounce back from defeats last time out in the league. Wolves showed a lot of promise by beating Chelsea thanks to a late goal from Pedro Neto, demonstrating the form and prowess that had them in contention for the top four for large parts of the 2019/20 season. Tottenham Hotspur come in as favourites, such is the aura and influence on the bookies a Mourinho side can have, in the quality of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min they have the weight behind them to be a good punt in this match.
Process
Wolves have not hit the heights of last season, currently sat in 11th but rank 15th via expected goals. They have underperformed slightly in front of goal, however with Raul Jimenez out injured they lack a little clinicality with a lot of weight on the shoulders of Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto in an offense.
Spurs have seen a regression in recent weeks which has not come as a surprise given their data and are winless since their North London derby triumph. They were pegged back to a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace before a late loss at Liverpool was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Leicester City in the capital. Gareth Bale was on the scoresheet in midweek in the cup and will be looking to make his mark on the division in the weeks to come.
Prediction
This looks like a low scoring affair with Wolves notorious for stronger second half performances and the visitors known for sitting back once they have taken the lead. Get on board with visitors if you must pick a side, they have the attacking quality to get the win.
Wolves have the capabilities to win but the pragmatism of Mourinho may take its toll, a goalless draw would not be a surprise.
