West Brom home crowd to be further frustrated
West Bromwich Albion stopped the rot with a much needed 2-0 win at Hull City on Saturday with Karlan Grant grabbing a brace.
Steve Bruce will be relieved to pick up his first victory in the role, the play-offs look a long way off and it is simply a case of building some positive momentum at the club.
Huddersfield Town have crept up on everyone and climbed as high as second at the weekend, having played four more games than third placed Bournemouth, winning four on the bounce under Carlos Corberan.
Despite the league table and recent form, the Baggies are puzzling strong favourites against a Terriers side that have been very solid at the back in the last month or so.
Process
West Brom’s process was excellent under Valerien Ismael before he was unceremoniously sacked for his style of play, which was well published when they appointed him.
Since then, performance levels have dropped off alarmingly and Bruce has a long way to go even to convince supporters that he deserves the job beyond the end of the season.
The Baggies have been defensively sound all season, allowing just 1.04 expected goals (xG) against per game, similar to the Terriers.
Huddersfield have overperformed to score 49 from 41.1 xGF this term and their defensive process has laid the foundations for their promotion push, averaging 1.12 xGA per game, a healthy promotion pushing process.
Tom Lees, Matty Pearson and Levi Colwill have built a formidable back three and will be confident of upsetting the home crowd.
The Terriers also have the attacking talent to hurt the Baggies, playing with so much confidence under Corberan.
Goals?
Unders did appeal but too short on the lines to entice me.
The Asian Handicap provides value in a Huddersfield based play in my opinion.
West Brom have scored in three of ten.
West Brom have conceded in seven of ten.
West Brom have seen both teams score in one of ten.
West Brom have seen over 2.5 goals in two of ten.
Huddersfield have scored in eight of ten.
Huddersfield have conceded in four of ten.
Huddersfield have seen both teams score in four of ten.
Huddersfield have seen over 2.5 goals in four of ten.
The Terriers are far too big as outsiders in my opinion, West Brom’s performance data is strong but a lot of that has carried over from the beginning of the season.
There is a chance to oppose.
