Hornets look to swarm on the Cherries
Watford’s bid to get their first win of the season and lift themselves from the foot of the table continues when they host 10th placed Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, both sides are slightly out of form providing a good opportunity for Quique Sanchez Floresto earn his first three points of the campaign. These two both endured low scoring draws at the weekend with the equally poor performing Tottenham Hotspurand Norwich City respectively. The pressure is mounting on this set of Hornets players to get the monkey off their back and the visit of Bournemouth presents a perfect opportunity.
Recent form
The Cherrieshave performed admirably on the road in recent weeks however, with a resounding 3-1 win at St. Mary’s backed up by a solid display at the Emirates that saw them unlucky to leave empty handed in. As a proposition the seasiders remain similar to what they have been for the last couple of seasons, silence Josh King and Callum Wilson, silence Bournemouth.
The Hornetshave improved marginally since Sanchez Flores returned to the hotseat, drawing three to build on their total of one point when he arrived. They have only conceded once in their last two matches, with some groundwork put in following their horrific 8-0 defeat away to the champions, Manchester City.
Key players
Much is said about the flair players in the ranks of the Londoners however, the key to them dominating Bournemouth comes from the centre of the park and with their mix of power, youth and experience they should be able to dictate the pace of the game.
Abdoulaye Doucoure returned to goalscoring form at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last time out and he is type of player that can galvanise the whole team when playing well. He was the subject of multiple lucrative bids from Everton in the transfer window and so would be forgiven for his performances not being up to the mark in the early part of the season.
Nathaniel Chalobah coming of age in this relegation battle would also go a long way to the Hornets’ cause, the England international earned his first start in five league games against Spurs and was instrumental in winning aerials and distributing the ball to the more creative players. An enhanced display would guarantee Watforda much need three points in this encounter.
Watford will put in a positive display against an easy on the eye Cherries side, however I am not sure they will have the cutting edge in Troy Deeney’s absence to run away with it. Bournemouth will be a constant threat with their quality in wide areas.
