Stalemate set for St Mary’s
Patchy beginnings
Southampton play host to Bruno Lage’s Wolves on Sunday afternoon at Saint Mary’s. The hosts sit 15th, and the visitors are one place below in 16th, meaning the winner of this game has a golden opportunity to make a gap between themselves and their rivals at the bottom end of the table in these early knockings. However, with such patchy form for both sides, this is a game I can see them cancelling each other out in.
Goal droughts to continue all round
The bookies are favouring under 2.5 goals and, if you were to go with that market I wouldn’t blame you. But this also indicates a heightened potential for a draw, particularly a goalless one or a 1-1. Southampton have only four goals in their last five games, while Wolves have only notched up two Premier League goals so far this campaign. With the Saints without too many injury concerns in the attacking half, they may be fancied to punish a rather lacklustre Wolves defence. But the visitors are also without too many new injuries on the attacking front. The problem for Wolves has been their striker position, with Raul Jimenez simply not looking the same after his horrific head injury.
Bore draw here
The visitors may look to call upon new loanee Hwang Hee-chan for goals as well as the ever-dangerous Adama. But their end product has left a lot to be desired, and a low scoring draw is certainly what I’d foresee this fixture to play out as. Neither team getting off to the ideal start leaves them both much in need of a win, but here isn’t where either side will find that illusive three points.
These two look likely to cancel each other out on Sunday, both with quite blunt edged attacks. That’s why I’m going with a draw with bet365.

Jimenez the difference here. Not much to split the pair, the hosts in control most of the game in fact
