Commanding City to cruise again
It’s as if the Premier League never ended with Champions Manchester City already sitting back where they finished last season after the first two rounds of games. Their hammering of Huddersfield ensures they sit top despite being one of six clubs in all to have claimed maximum points so far. City are likely to relinquish top spot at some stage as the early table takes shape. But they’re unlikely to do so on the back of this game, the early kick off in Saturday’s Premier League schedule.
Wolves
Championship winners and Premier League new boys Wolves will be slightly disappointed with their return of 1 point thus far. They came back twice to deny Everton on the opening day but couldn’t take advantage of having a man advantage in the second half, while the scoreline at the King Power read 2-0 to the home side but Leicester run out somewhat fortunate victors against a Wolves team that hit the goal frame twice and threatened throughout. Even the opposing manager Claude Puel admitted Leicester were ‘lucky’ to win.
City are coming to town and this tends to only mean one thing.
Having said all this, it’s highly probable Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will have to wait at least one week longer for that elusive first win. Why? Well, you know why. Manchester City are coming to town and as Arsenal and more so Huddersfield have discovered, this tends to only mean one thing. As much as it’s slowly coming together for Wolves, I don’t expect them to have the capacity to deal with a City side in imperious form already.
Man City
Believe it or not, the team Pep Guardiola fielded at the Etihad on Sunday was an experimental one. He opted to leave Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker all on the bench as City demonstrated how they’re going to deal with sides that turn up looking to ‘park the bus’ this season. Out-and-out pace was replaced by players capable of operating in tight spaces and able to find their way past a host of bodies.
City run amok in a performance that is sure to send shivers down the spine
It ended 6-1, but in truth it could and should have been double figures as City run amok in a performance that is sure to send shivers down the spine of the remaining 17 teams still to meet the Champions. Wolves, at Molineux, are at least likely to give City more of a game. But having proved that there is more than one way they can break teams down, there’s little doubt in my mind that The Citizens will claim another comfortable victory to make it three wins from three.
Match Tip
It’s my belief City won’t have it their own way entirely against Wolves who have shown much promise in their two games. It’s also fixtures such as this one, the Wolves supporters would’ve been relishing in light of winning promotion and they’ll be in full voice come Saturday lunchtime, no doubt about that.
But Manchester City now have a couple of ways to successfully approach a game – an ominous sign for the rest. I'm expecting a two goal swing in favour of the visitors, as in their last away match vs. Arsenal and highly competitive odds of 10/3 (4.33) with bet365 says Man City will do just this.

Wolves, with a little bit of luck, demonstrated their own capabilities whilst highlighting that Man City aren't completely unplayable. The unexpected result would have had failed many accumulators as well as make many take note of Nuno Espírito Santo's improving side.
