Spurs to assert their authority at Forest
Nottingham Forest face their toughest test yet on their return to the Premier League when Tottenham Hotspur arrive at the City Ground on Sunday.
Steve Cooper’s men have made a positive start in the top-flight and would have been disappointed not to seal back-to-back wins after conceding late on to draw 1-1 at Everton last time out.
Spurs grinded out a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last match with Harry Kane coming up with the goods yet again, to take their tally to seven after three games.
Forest have invested heavily and probably look like the most prepared newly promoted side, Morgan Gibbs-White has recently arrived from Wolves with a huge price tag, but the attacking midfielder should be a crucial member of the first team.
Background
Antonio Conte will be confident of breaching a Reds backline that is yet to put in a very assured performance.
Bringing in Henderson on loan is a fantastic piece of business but Spurs should be able to create enough chances to find the net.
Spurs are so dangerous on the counter-attack that Forest may look to sit in and give them a taste of their own medicine, however that feels like a risk with the amount of chances they have been allowing opponents in the last few weeks.
The backline is looking fierce at Spurs at the moment, with Conte instilling a mentality into the squad and the club that has not been present for some time.
They will arrive to a carnival atmosphere at the City Ground that has been rocking ever since Cooper was appointed early last season, but that may only fire them up more.
Son Heung-Min is yet to find the net this season, and though the Reds will try to limit the space in behind that he can exploit, the South Korean’s dribbling ability and relentless endeavour could be a huge factor in breaking Forest down.
Forest have only scored two goals from the opening three, with Taiwo Awoniyi and Brennan Johnson opening their accounts for the season, if Spurs hit their straps they are comfortably the better side.
With Arsenal being early pace-setters at the summit of the division, Spurs will be keen to demonstrate why they are expected to finish in the top four and with Liverpool starting slowly there is a chance for them to throw themselves into the early title conversation.
