Fulham to run out of steam
Newcastle United host Fulham on Sunday in aiming to sustain their bid to finish in the top four.
Chelsea’s decline has presented an opportunity for the Magpies to finish in the top six at least, increasing their chances of sealing European football for next season.
The Cottagers have been mightily impressive in stepping back up to the Premier League, survival looks all but confirmed already, and their progress was clear to see in beating Chelsea on Thursday evening without Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Both sides head into this one after midweek action, with the Magpies having the scheduling advantage.
Emil Krafth, Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Targett are out for Newcastle, with Neeskens Kebano, Shane Duffy and Antonee Robinson set to miss out for the visitors, the latter due to suspension.
Process
Fulham have a great team for goals-based bettors this season, although I am not convinced that should be our angle into this one, with Mitrovic not fully fit and the schedule potentially set to take its toll, especially on such a long away trip.
Silva’s men have scored 32 goals from 30.2 expected goals (xG) for, creating chances at 1.59 xGF per game.
The signing of Bernd Leno is aging very well, with Fulham conceding just 28 goals from 37.6 xGA, allowing an unhealthy 1.98 xGA per game, a defensive process that would have them towards the bottom of the division if it was not for their attacking capabilities.
The Magpies have been strong on their home patch so far this season and the market is not showing them as much respect as it should given the quality and consistency of their performances.
Goals?
As mentioned above, Fulham have been a great team to get a both teams to score bet on side with this term. However, the schedule and opposition could lead to a regression in their attacking potency on Tyneside.
