Man Utd to charge towards top four versus West Ham
Manchester United are closing in on a top-four spot with just two games remaining in the Premier League. West Ham stand in their way on Wednesday, but will they offer much resistance? Have a read of our preview here:
Solskjaer finally vindicated as Man Utd rocket on
It would be going too far to say that Manchester United in their current guise are comparable to the teams of old, but they have certainly made some positive strides since lockdown.
The front three have been absolutely brilliant with Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford beginning to look like a trio United can build around for the future.
They have also had a boost thanks to the form of Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who has been an inspired signing so far.
With just two games left, West Ham this Wednesday and Leicester in the final match on Sunday, they must be considered favourites to overtake the Foxes.
However, West Ham have prevented United winning the title in the past when Alex Ferguson’s side could only manage a 1-1 draw on the final day of the 1994/95 season, handing the trophy to Blackburn.
It will not be easy with the Hammers coming off the back of a great performance against Norwich which confirmed the Canaries relegation.
This one is a must-win for Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s side, a manager who has been vindicated by the faith the owners have shown in him, and they simply must deliver.
Hammers face a nervous end
There is a really interesting relegation scrap mounting in the Premier League. West Ham are one of five teams that could be sucked into the two remaining relegation spots.
In a huge game against Watford on Friday, they came through with flying colours, winning easily with Michail Antonio on the scoresheet again.
They are not quite there yet, however, and Brighton, Aston Villa and Bournemouth know it will be a tough end to the campaign.
Antonio’s four goals against Norwich and ninth of the season against Watford may end up being enough to keep the Hammers in the top flight, something they will be desperate to achieve from a financial standpoint.
With dropping into the Championship likely to see £160m of funding stripped away, this is a big deal and David Moyes will expect his team to fight tooth and nail against his old club.
Even so, it is hard to see them getting much change from a rampant Red Devils.
