Arsenal to bounceback against a wounded Everton
Toffees in disarray
Wednesday's hammering at Goodison Park on Rafa Benitez's first (and potentially last) Merseyside Derby on the blue side of the city has compounded their losses. A 4-1 loss, especially due to the manner that the Toffees rolled over to their bitter rivals, seems to put Benitez on the brink of a sacking. Jordan Henderson's sweet strike inside the first ten minutes was added to by in form Mohamed Salah. While Demarai Gray's goal just before the halftime mark gave the hosts some hope going into the second period, this glimmer of a chance was dashed by Salah grabbing his second and a final nail in the coffin courtesy of Diogo Jota. It was a really damaging defeat for Everton and a point that could accelerate the derailing of their season to date. Their dreary winless streak has now been extended to eight games, and the Toffees sit all the way down in 15th. Picking up just four wins from 14 games, there's serious doubt surrounding Rafa Benitez's future and anything less than a win in Monday night's fixture could well lead to his dismissal. Losing six of these last eight league games is a major cause for concern. While they've lacked a clinical focal point due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin's absence with injury, this can't be the sole reason for their diabolical form. The English striker is being linked with a move to Monday's opposition, they will once again be without their frontman due to his ongoing thigh injury concerns. They will be desperate for a win on Monday, but their poor form and more concerning lack of fight shown in recent games means that they will most likely have to continue their search for three points into the following weeks.
Thriller at the Theatre of Dreams not set to dampen Arsenal's spirit
Arsenal's six-game league unbeaten run against the Red Evils was brought to an end after they lost 3-2 on Thursday night. It was a game where an expectant Man United crowd, behind the hope of a new dawn under the incoming Ralf Ragnick helped carry their side to the win. Ronaldo was up to his usual high-standard, bagging a brace on the night while compatriot Bruno Fernandes contributed the third. A punishing night for Arteta's young guns who still have had a season to be proud of so far. Despite this, they really do need to pick up maximum points at Goodison Park if they're to try and maintain their European hunt. The Toffees are massively out of form, and this is a perfect opportunity to not fall to three away losses on the bounce for Arteta's side. Selection-wise, it will be interesting to see whether Nuno Tavares will be able to keep Kieran Tierney out of the team for much longer, with the Scotsman reportedly back to full fitness. Arteta could even drop club captain Aubameyang due to his poor form in front of goal. While this is unlikely, the performances of Gabriel Martinelli in the past two games have been electrifying, and with star man Bukayo Saka returning to the fray, moving Gabi to the centre forward position could breed new life up top into this Arsenal side.
This match pits two teams with very differing seasons so far. But for me, Arsenal should have more than enough to punish a shaky Everton side who are in disarray at the minute. that's why I'm going with Arsenal to win with bet365.
