Austria 🇦🇹
Probably the most uninspiring nickname at this year's Euros, Das Team are definitely the most inspirationally generation of Austrian footballers to emerge since before the war. Qualifying for back to back tournaments for the first time, Austria don't have the most dazzling squad but are a functional outfit.
Manager Franco Foda has guided his side to a spate of victories against middling opposition over the last couple of years, and with favourable CV behind him the Austrian national side look in safe hands.
Austria will look to stifle their opponents with a forward press
- Coach: Franco Foda
- Journey to Euro 2021: 2nd in Group G
- Top goalscorer in qualifying: Marko Arnautovic (6 goals)
- Number of Euro appearances: 2
- Best Euros finish: Group stage
- World ranking: 23
How will Austria line up?
Despite having a lack of outrageous individual talent Austria can rely on the likes of David Alaba to create down the flank, with a solid and experienced Marko Arnautovic up top.
Foda likes his team to press with a 4-2-3-1 setup usually quite common and effective. Most of Austria's players feature in Bundesliga sides so are not averse to sitting back and absorbing pressure.
How are Austria's chances?
Nobody expects Austria to light the world on fire but they should feel fairly confident in seeing off North Macedonia and Ukraine. Earning a point against the Dutch would be a solid result but they will probably still expect themselves to finish second in the group. A quarter final push would be make for a successful tournament.

Netherlands 🇳🇱
The Netherlands announced their return to the international stage by lifting the Nations League trophy. The question is whether Frank de Boer's side still has the taste for success, as well as the strength across all positions in comparison to more established opposition.
The Netherlands are looking to make a name for themselves once more
This new look Netherlands is based on old world attacking principles that aren't quite total football but aren't far off. The Dutch like to attack but they are still some question marks about how far they can go and how well they perform against more serious opposition.
Newly emerging Netherlands still have a lot to prove
A recent defeat to Turkey in their World Cup qualifying, stalemate against Italy and only narrowly edging Poland demonstrate their credentials are still there to be questioned.
- Coach: Frank de Boer
- Journey to Euro 2021: 2nd in Group C
- Top goalscorer in qualifying: Georginio Wijnaldum (8 goals)
- Number of Euro appearances: 9
- Best Euros finish: Winners 1988
- World ranking: 16
How will the Netherlands line up?
Let's focus on talking about who is going and who isn't (Virgin van Dijk). De Boer favours a set 4-3-3 system that places more emphasis on a strong back line and midfield trio, rather on outright attacking flair.
It's a functional setup that plays to Dutch strengths. De Ligt, Ake, Van Aanholt, Blind at can appear in a variety of combinations at the back and Wijnaldum, Van de Beek, De Jong in midfield demonstrate why the setup is like this.
Attacking power is limited largely to Memphis Depay with Luuk De Jong and Quincey Promes also looking to make appearances.
What are their chances?
This side has got a lot going for it but overall as a squad they are lacking in attacking areas while overflowing with talent in others. They don't have the depth or experience that France, England or Belgium do to make them outright favourites, but they are dangerous and it wouldn't be a total shock to see them go far or even lift the trophy.

North Macedonia 🇲🇰
North Macedonia are making their maiden voyage into major international competition at this year's Euros. There isn't much expected of the novices from the Balkans, but they've fought tooth and nail to make it this far so you can anticipate them putting up a fight.
North Macedonia are rebranded and newly minted
After finishing third in their qualifying group North Macedonia did a job on both Kosovo and Georgia to make it to the finals.
Since then they've even managed a victory against giants Germany as recently as March in their fight for World Cup qualification.
- Coach: Igor Angelovski
- Journey to Euro 2021: Playoff winner in the Nations League
- Top goalscorer in qualifying: Elif Elmas (4 goals)
- Number of Euro appearances: 0
- Best Euros finish: -
- World ranking: 62
How will North Macedonia line up?
Igor Angelovski usually lines his team up with four at the back. The Macedonian manager likes to pivot between a well worn 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 but three at the back with a more attacking focus in midfield is what got them through the Nations League playoffs.
37 year old Goran Pandev will play up front and another familiar face to Premier League watchers will be Leeds United winger Ezgjan Alioski. Elif Elmas as supporting forward to the front two was their top scorer in qualifying.
How are North Macedonia's chances?
Despite having no experience at major tournaments and having the Nations League back door to thank for this summer, North Macedonia won't be resting on their laurels. They will set up to absorb attacks and counter on the break. As the Germans found out to their surprise, there is some substance to this side and if any of the smaller sides will cause an upset this summer it will probably be North Macedonia.

Ukraine 🇺🇦
Ukraine go into the tournament with the worst collective form of any team in the competition at present. Since qualifying for Euro 2021 top of their group ahead of Euro champions Portugal and Serbia they've taken a worrying nosedive.
Ukraine will be hoping to rewind the clock two years this summer
Manager Andriy Shevchenko was a legend in his own right even before guiding his country to the Euros ahead of stiff competition. Since then however they've only won two of their last twelve, registering a draw on every occasion in World Cup qualification.
- Coach: Andriy Shevchenko
- Journey to Euro 2021: Winners of Group B
- Top goalscorer in qualifying: Roman Yaremchuk (4 goals)
- Number of Euro appearances: 2
- Best Euros finish: Group stage
- World ranking: 24
How will Ukraine line up?
Shevchenko has chopped and changed formations more in recent months than their border posts have been shifted in the last decade. It's tough to know exactly how he will set up his side but the formation he has used most frequently is 4-3-3.
He has also used the most players out of any side in recent matches but the most likely names on the team will be Manchester City man Zinchenko, West Ham's Yarmolenko and top scorer in qualifying Yaremchuk.
How are Ukraine's chances?
Ukraine are the most difficult proposition to call at this year's tournament. Their manager is either completely lost the plot or is planning for all occasions. When they're on they've proven they can get the better of many of Europe's better sides (Portugal, Serbia, Spain). If they turn up they will attack and they will score goals. If they don't they will probably finish bottom of the group.
