Wycombe to confine Sunderland to the third tier
Wycombe Wanderers and Sunderland meet in the EFL League One Play-Off Final at Wembley on Saturday afternoon, with the prize at stake being promotion to the Championship. The Chairboys have more recently been in the second tier than their opponents, and have what's required to grace it once again. Read our preview here:
Sam-wise
Gareth Ainsworth has no fresh injury concerns after their two-legged triumph over MK Dons in the semis, meaning only midfielder Jack Young is certain to be on the sidelines. Welsh striker Sam Vokes will lead the line in a 4-2-3-1, and will be looking to add to the 17 goals he's racked up for the Buckinghamshire outfit. Joe Jacobson's dead balls are a huge factor in closely fought encounters, just as tomorrow's game promises to be.
The one after 9-O'Nien
The Black Cats' trials and tribulations have been well-documented (and televised) in the past few years, and failure to clinch promotion would mean a fifth season in League One against a backdrop of persistent questions about the ownership. Fans are much more sanguine about Alex Neil's efforts since being appointed manager however, who has 25-goal Ross Stewart at his disposal. Luke O'Nien is integral in midfield as well, and should line up in an unchanged XI from the Sheffield Wednesday game.
Betting tip
Despite a relative gulf in budgets, there is little to split the sides on paper. bet365 have odds of 2.30 for Wycombe to win by any means, and it could easily go all the way.
