Manchester United to continue top four charge
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got his permanent tenure off to a winning start on Saturday and that momentum should continue at Molineaux.
Ole Gunnar Sol-STAR
Manchester United would have been mad not to give the manager’s job to Solskjaer after taking the Red Devils into the Champions League places, especially considering where they were on the day Jose Mourinho was sacked.
The ‘baby faced assassin’ was delighted to be given the job and is now solely focussed on getting United a top four finish.
He was happy with the performance in the recent defeat to Arsenal and, in general, performances have been hugely better since he took charge. There is far more attacking intent from the team and, given the opportunity to strengthen over the summer, the future looks bright for United.
Red Devils in hot form
Things looked pretty bleak for United when they lost to Liverpool in December but just one defeat in 14 league games since have put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s into the Champions League places, albeit, having played a game more than the chasing Gunners.
On this run United have won 11 times compared to the seven that they had tasted victory in during Mourinho’s 17 games this season. This vast improvement has not always seen the Red Devils at their best but under Solskjaer the results are falling the right way.
Manchester United hit scoring form
The biggest difference in United’s game under the Norwegian is the attacking football on display and this has translated into goals.
United have scored three or more goals in a match six times under Solskjaer in the Premier League compared to just twice under Mourinho this season and the former striker is getting goals from several players.
This is the first time since the 1995-96 season (Scholes, Cole, Giggs, Cantona) that Man Utd have had four players score 10+ goals in a single Premier League campaign (Martial, Rashford, Lukaku, Pogba).
Rashford’s improvement under Solskjaer has been pleasing to see for England fans. In fact, since his debut for Manchester United in February 2016, Marcus Rashford has scored 45 goals for the club in all competitions, more than any other player in that period.
Wolves already on holiday
With Wolves clearly safe from relegation they appear to be taking their foot of the pedal somewhat. They have only won once in their last six Premier League games and that was at home to struggling Cardiff City.
They are not an easy side to play against especially at Molineux so United won’t have it all their own way but this is definitely the worst run of 2019 for the West Midland’s club.
Betting tip
Given United’s form they should be able to go to Wolverhampton and pick up three points but it won’t be an easy game so backing United to win and under 3.5 goals at odds of 13/8 could be a good option. Hopefully it will be a good game to boot.

There were only three goals in this one but the win went to the home side as United's top four ambitions took a massive hit.
