Bundesliga bottom feeders look to bounce back
Stuttgart travel to the Bundesliga’s rock bottom side in Furth on Saturday afternoon looking to begin the second half of the season in style. The visitors have been far from convincing themselves this term and therefore despite the large gap in points between the two sides, Stuttgart are around evens to pick up all three points. Furth had started to grow into the campaign just before the winter break and though they are 12 points off the relegation play-off spot will be optimistic of achieving a great escape. Stuttgart currently occupy 16th but will fancy their chances of pulling away if they can keep their best players at the club this month.
Process
Both these sides will have been practicing their attacking play during the winter break with each of them looking like relegation scrappers in the final third. The Reds have had a marginally better attacking process having scored 22 from 19.7 expected goals (xG) compared to Furth’s 17.2. Stuttgart have been better defensively though and will be hoping that that can build the foundations for them to climb the table in the coming months.
The state of affairs towards the bottom end could also make this one a little more cagey knowing what is at stake. Furth have to start quickly if they are to keep their survival hopes alive deep into the campaign, the pressure is off them though, they have been written off at this point.
Goals?
The Asian goal line provides a bit of insurance going into this match. Both are very poor offensively and will be confident of keeping it relatively tight at the back.
- Furth have scored in six of ten.
- Furth have conceded in eight of ten.
- Furth have seen both teams score in seven of ten.
- Furth have seen over 2.5 goals in five of ten.
- Stuttgart have scored in six of ten.
- Stuttgart have conceded in nine of ten.
- Stuttgart have seen both teams score in five of ten.
- Stuttgart have seen over 2.5 goals in five of ten.
Furth have picked up four points in their last three games which given their start to the season is a stark improvement. Stuttgart’s price and data is not sufficient to convince me to get involved in an outright play so unders it is.
