Sevilla rightful favourites in round of 32 tie
Sevilla absolutely love the Europa League and appear to be in a strong position to continue that relationship this season.
They are not out of it in terms of the La Liga title race, sitting four points behind Real Madrid in second which is a far more commanding position than they have found themselves in recently.
Julen Lopetegui is doing a terrific job at Sevilla and has the club looking more and more likely to win a long awaited league title in the coming years.
Sevilla have won the competition six times since 2006 and have plenty of survivors in their squad from their 2020 triumph.
Background
Villarreal of course carried on the tradition by beating Manchester United in the Europa League final last season.
The Sevilla DNA was clearly present in Unai Emery when he led the Yellow Submarine over the line last season.
Lopetegui’s men are certainly a stronger defensive unit than they are a free-flowing attacking side but given the depth in their squad they will be confident of asserting their authority on the tie.
Lucas Ocampos and Erik Lamela are doubtful which does harm Sevilla, however in Rafa Mir, Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez, Anthony Martial and Youssef En Nesyri there is enough attacking quality to make this one comfortable.
Sevilla are very short to win the game outright and therefore it is important to find an alternative angle to boost us up to a backable price.
Dinamo Zagreb are top of the Croatian top-flight and were able to progress from West Ham United’s group, but they will have their work cut out against one of the form sides in La Liga’s resurgence this season.
Goals?
Part of my angle into this fixture, Sevilla are rock solid and should be able to continue that trend to give themselves a foothold of the tie.
Sevilla have scored in nine of ten.
Sevilla have conceded in five of ten.
Sevilla have seen both teams score in five of ten.
Sevilla have seen over 2.5 goals in three of ten.
Dinamo have scored in nine of ten.
Dinamo have conceded in five of ten.
Dinamo have seen both teams score in four of ten.
Dinamo have seen over 2.5 goals in five of ten.
Sevilla are rightfully firm favourites and could find a nice distraction from the intensity of their push in La Liga.
They have the depth of quality in their squad to control the game for large periods.
