Liverpool to bounce back at Ibrox?
Rangers take on Liverpool in matchday four of the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
The Gers have lost all three of their Group A outings so far, and desperately need to avoid defeat here to have any chance of sneaking into the Europa League.
Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s men have not done themselves justice so far and need to channel the spirit of their run to the Europa League final under the lights at Ibrox Stadium.
The scoreline flattered Liverpool in their 3-2 defeat at Arsenal at the weekend, with their backline continuing to look nothing like the force that has helped them achieve so much success in the last few seasons.
Background
This match feels a bit closer than the bookmakers have priced it up as, but that said, the Reds have been superior in the Champions League so far, barring their disappointing trip to Napoli.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Curtis Jones are all doubtful, while Luis Diaz, Arthur, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been ruled out.
Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will probably welcome the break in the season, the way that they are going, but they need to arrest the slide before it arrives, to give them any chance of pulling themselves back into contention at the latter end of big competitions.
The atmosphere will be electric at Ibrox even with their poor start to the group stage campaign, and it will be interesting to see if Rangers can hurt the Reds, should they start brightly.
Goals?
The Gers do not have the personnel to hurt Liverpool, like Arsenal did at the weekend and have not been able to impose themselves in the competition so far.
However, I would not persuade anyone away from a both teams to score bet, with Rangers putting in a competent display, before the red card, in their last Champions League home match against Napoli.
