Potential goalfest at the King Power
Leicester
Leicester’s follow up in the Premier League after their opening defeat to Man United can’t come soon enough. Despite claiming back a consolatory goal in the dying minutes after the introduction of Jamie Vardy, it just wasn’t enough. However, the loss can be chalked up to a calculated risk, and now they’re facing a much more manageable opposition on home soil.
With Vardy starting you can always count on them to be a more dangerous proposition
In their opener at Old Trafford they took a risk by testing new arrivals Maddison and Pereira, and with no second forward to boot. Vardy started the last match on the bench, but it’s more likely now that he’ll begin the game against Wolves. With Vardy starting you can always count on them to be a more dangerous proposition for any team they face. I’m even going to stick my neck out here and say that this will be a breakthrough year for Gray.
You can be sure of the hosts getting a goal, but the real question is whether Leicester can keep it tight at the back. There’s no doubt that when they get going, their visitors look an exciting prospect going forward.
Wolves
Wolves clinched a point when they drew 2-2 in their opening match up, even though they had one man more on the pitch for a large portion of the match. Having said that they looked a little shaky at the back, letting Richarlison sneak through on two or more occasions given their numerical disadvantage.
It’s safe to say that we can count on a few high scoring matches from Wolves this season
Wolves are a highly promising newcomer to the Premier League who’ve done great work in the transfer market, while managing to hold on to their key players from last season’s Championship winning campaign. And with their new signings we’re not exactly talking about players who have a park-the-bus mentality, or need to be given time to step up into Premier League gear.
Ambitions are high at Wolves and we’ll see if they can reach those heights in the table, whilst playing the brand of attractive football the owners and fans are licking their lips at the prospect of. It’s probably safe to say even now that we can count on a few high scoring matches from Wolves this season.
Match Tips
I staunchly believe that there will be goals scored by goal teams in this match. Leicester have the benefit of being at home, and most likely back in the company of Jamie Vardy. On the other hand, Wolves are a bright, positive and offensively-gifted outfit. Both teams to score at odds of 7/10 (1.70) with Betfair is my punt for this one.
