Netherlands and Sweden to cancel each other out
Defending champions Netherlands make their Euro 2022 bow at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening against Sweden, and won't find their first opponents anything other than a tough challenge. Read our preview here:
Spitse image
Leeuwinnen are in the midst of a new era after previous head coach Sarina Wiegman left for England. Mark Parsons is beginning to imprint his own ideas on the squad, but it is still built around midfielder Sherida Spitse, who is in line for a record breaking 203rd cap. Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema will be a huge cog in the front three, making space for herself as the opposition look to mark her out of the contest.
Glas cannon
Blågult have shed their tag of underdogs and are an outside bet in their own right to win the competition. The defence is extremely stoic, starting with legendary goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl, left-sided stopper Magdalena Eriksson, and the confident right-back Hanna Glas, who has shaken off three separate ACL injuries during her career. She will supply silky striker Fridolina Rolfö, who has a big on-field rapport with her national teammate.
Betting tip
bet365 have odds of 3.25 for a draw that would probably suit both sides.
