Saints to bloody the favourites' noses once again
Manchester United welcome Southampton up from Hampshire to Old Trafford for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off in the Premier League. The hosts were frustratingly held by Burnley in midweek, whereas their opponents for the weekend grabbed a memorable comeback victory against Tottenham Hotspur. Read our preview here:
Harry's game
One factor that has dominated the Red Devils' campaign has been the not-so subtle and far too frequent 'leaks' from the dressing room concerning displeasure about training ground methods, a phenomenon that has apparently continued with Ralf Rangnick. The managerial situation for next season is still unclear, but the interim manager needs players like Harry Maguire to do their talking on the pitch. The centre back looked very off-colour against the Clarets, and he can expect the opposing strikers to press into his own penalty area in an attempt to capitalise on any further errors. Diogo Dalot gives good balance on the right of defence, an area where the hosts have appeared weak this term.
Ché's quiet revolution
Ralph Hasenhüttl's men will be on a high after their stirring success on Wednesday, and there is little reason for him to change things up too much. Tino Livramento's inclusion will be a boost if he's ready in time, and the 4-2-2-2 shape should be very familiar to Rangnick in the other dugout, though that doesn't mean it will be easy to stop in full flow. The partnership of Armando Broja and Ché Adams in attack will be a huge concern, with the Scottish international in particular enjoying good goalscoring form.
Betting tip
Out of the FA Cup and out of the top four (temporarily, at least) in the space of a week, Manchester United, barring something remarkable in Europe, are going to endure another year without silverware. Their efforts should be firmly concentrated on at least qualifying for the Champions League again, but Southampton won't arrive at their door just to roll over. betway have odds of 5.50 for another big scalp for the Saints.
