Eagles to crash and burn at Old Trafford?
Crystal Palace guest Manchester United at Old Trafford on matchday 3 of The Premier League after quite contrasting starts. Crystal Palace hope to improve upon their away form after last weekends poor defeat whilst United are looking to build on their emphatic win against Chelsea two weeks ago.
Manchester United
The Red Devils are coming off the back of a highly entertaining 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton where most of the post-game discussion was strangely focused on Pogba's penalty miss. To sum it up, what basically happened is that a great player unfortunately missed a penalty and the team he plays for drew the game when they might have won it.
Moving on, United look like a totally different side compared to last season and watching them attack is thoroughly enjoying. The arrival of Maguire seems to have stabilized the defense and his partnership with Lindelöf could be revolutionary, the addition of Wan-Bissaka is also proving to be an incredible piece of business with the young right-back currently leading the league in tackles won.
Spoiler alert!
I fully expect the mancs to build upon their impressive start to the season and grab another well-deserved win.
Crystal Palace
Roy Hodgson and co. are headed towards their 3rd straight abysmal start to a Premier League season after having lost their first 7 games in the 2017/18 campaign and 3 out of their 4 first games last year. Not exactly a trend fans appreciate.
The draw to Everton during their opening game is fully acceptable, Everton are a good side and not conceding against them is a job well done. However, their defeat against newcomers Sheffield United was justified and embarrassing. The Eagles managed a measly 3 shots over 90 minutes and were never really close to even creating a decent chance, the last 10 minutes consisted of long balls from centre-backs Kelly and Dann which were consequentially cleared by Sheffield's defence every single time.
They somehow managed to hold on to talisman Zaha and do have real quality in players like Meyer, Van Aanholt and Benteke which means that they will sooner or later perform at the level they can but that needs to come sooner rather than later. Their upcoming games after this one consist of an away game to Spurs and a tough home fixture against Wolves where they should realistically be happy to come through with a point at best so they really need to step it up if they do not want to be rock-bottom by December.
They now face a United side that i think have performed admirably and will be fueled on by a passionate home-crowd meaning that Palace are probably in for a very rough time come Saturday.
Betting tip
After very contrasting starts i cannot see this ending in any way other than a United win which is why i will be backing a Manchester United (-1) handicap win at 1/1 with Bethard.
