United to tighten up after Leicester calamity
It is time to go against the grain for a selection in the Manchester United versus Atalanta match in Group F of the Champions League. The Red Devils have looked extremely unconvincing in the competition this season with a defeat to Young Boys preceding a narrow victory over Villarreal. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm continues to be a laughing stock of a decision by the club’s hierarchy as has been proven time and time again in recent years. Now United have a squad capable of competing for both the Premier League title and a deep run in the Champions League and they are likely to be wasting an opportunity by keeping the Norwegian in charge.
Background
La Dea are top of the group after two matches after beating Young Boys 1-0 in the matchday. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are a true inspiration to every club in Europe that you do not need heavy foreign investment to compete in the Champions League. Atalanta have made the knockout stages of the competition in the last two editions and will be hoping to continue that success this year.
Josip Ilicic was in fine form at the weekend when La Dea ran out 4-1 victors at Empoli the Slovenian bagged a first half brace but would have been frustrated not to complete his hat-trick after missing a penalty in the second period. Duvan Zapata scored late on and carries one of Atalanta’s biggest attacking threats on Wednesday evening, the Colombian will not give the United backline a moment of peace.
It would be quite comical, with the money they have invested, for Manchester United to not progress in the Champions League but they do command a heavy favourites tag in this affair nonetheless. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in each of their games in the competition so far and will be looking to do so again under the lights at Old Trafford.
Goals?
Both sides have been leaky at the back of late, but with this selection I am looking to pounce on the value by going a little against the grain. United have to be concerned about shelling four goals against a struggling Leicester City side at the weekend and will want a reaction in their rearguard.

- Man U have seen both teams score in seven of ten.

Atalanta are a great side but will have to handle the occasion very well to get anything out of the game.
