United on the hunt for fourth
Manchester United welcome Watford to Old Trafford on Sunday during matchday 27 of the Premier League. The Red Devils will be looking to continue a positive run of form whilst Watford are trying to rekindle the form they were in when Nigel Pearson took over.
Manchester United
Solskjaer's men are on a roll at the moment having avoided defeat in 5 straight outings in all competitions. Not only have they avoided defeat but they have actually won a few too including impressive performances at Chelsea (0-2 win) and Manchester City (0-1 win) whilst most recently travelling to Brugge in a tricky away fixture that ended 1-1 in the Europa League.
Portuguese adrenalin shot
Could this upswing in form be contributed to new signing Bruno Fernandes? Most definitely. The Portuguese star has added a whole new dimension to United's game and contributes with passes that actually bypass their opponents defensive line which is something that has been sorely lacking since Pogba last played and actually performed.
Up and coming
It was near unthinkable a couple of months ago but United are closing in on the coveted Champions League spots and taking a quick look at their rivals gunning for a 4th place finish they are the only ones moving forwards and not back.
A lot of pressure on Martial
With Rashford out injured it is of the utmost importance that the once mercurial Martial starts performing on a regular basis. He has however started to show glimpses of what he is capable of and has started delivering with the first goal against Chelsea and the only goal at Brugge which will have fans and management alike breathing out a sigh of relief.
Watford
Nigel Pearson's men have hit a rather large snag following a run of 4 games without victory which has put a large dent in their survival plans given the fact that two of those opponents were fellow bottom-dwellers Aston Villa and Everton.
The hard-work begins
The Hornets and Pearson's honeymoon period is officially over but it was fun while it lasted. 4 wins, a draw and a defeat (to Liverpool) after his immediate appointment gave Watford fans the hope and belief that they might actually survive to see the Prem's bright lights next season but reality eventually caught up with them again.
It's obvious Watford need another revival, albeit a smaller one compared to when Pearson was first hired but a revival nonetheless if they are to secure another Prem contract.
Tough times ahead
The problem is that they face Manchester United, Liverpool and Leicester in their next 4 games meaning that they will more than likely be stuck in the bottom 3 for quite a while, especially given the fact that Watford have not won any of their 12 away games at Old Trafford.
Not the best time to be a Watford fan.
Betting tip
Manchester United are on the up and have performed well whilst Watford are on the total opposite trajectory which is why i will be backing a United win at the great odds of 3/5 with Betway.
