West Ham to prove worthy opponents against Reds
Liverpool are back on a high after a superb performance saw off perennial title rivals Manchester City on Sunday in the Premier League. With a second home game in the space of four days, they must now prove that the uptick in results is here to stay if they are to come anywhere close to challenging for the crown this season. West Ham United are Wednesday's visitors, and they rarely give the opposition an easy time of it. Read our preview here:
Qué Salah, Salah
Mo Salah had a hugely restorative week on the pitch, blasting in a record-breaking hat-trick from the bench in the Reds' demolition of Glasgow Rangers in the UEFA Champions League before going on to get the winner against the might of Pep Guardiola's side. Given the huge amount of fixtures Jürgen Klopp's charges have to contend with in advance of the World Cup, rotation is certain to be the order of the day, though that necessity is massively hampered by the number of injuries in the squad. Fabio Carvalho could start on the left flank of a midfield four or a front three, depending on what his head coach decides.
A steaming Paquetá of Rice
Though the Irons only drew away at Southampton, it did prove to be the fifth game in a row they've been unbeaten after a rather woeful start to the campaign. Key to that revival has been both the presence and goals of Gianluca Scamacca, though it's far from certain the Italian target man will start in front of the Kop. Declan Rice ultimately got an exquisite equaliser to maintain that run, and whilst he is by no means a regular source of goals, it is an area he could do with improving, especially in a central midfield two. Lucas Paquetá has yet to break his duck since making the move from Lyon in the summer, but has otherwise adapted well to the faster pace of the division.
Betting tip
It's tempting on the surface to suggest Liverpool will go another long winning run, but the injuries and proximities of games to each other are big inhibitors on that prospect. West Ham have improved significantly in recent games, too. There is more value in the draw at 3.75 with Parimatch.
