Another Merseyside derby mauling for Everton
Everton are fast running out of opportunities to extricate themselves from a relegation dogfight they look very ill-equipped for. A Sunday afternoon match at Anfield comes therefore comes at the worst possible time against a rampant Liverpool side. Read our preview here:
The Henderson will dance and sing
Jürgen Klopp will doubtlessly ring the changes with their upcoming UEFA Champions League semi-final tie with Villarreal in mind. In practice, that will mean mostly swapping the potent forwards, though Roberto Firmino is still a fitness doubt. The steel and experience in midfield typically comes to the fore in rival games, so Jordan Henderson is almost certain to start. The Reds skipper oozed class once again during the 4-0 roasting of Manchester United in midweek, and is unlikely to be faxed by his adversaries in blue on Sunday.
Talent Rich, form poor
Richarlison wasted several huge opportunities before seeing a fortunate deflected effort earn the Toffees a last-gasp point against an equally wasteful Leicester City. The hosts on Sunday are simply not going to afford him or his out-of-form teammates anything like the same number or manner of chances, and Frank Lampard must be very careful with how bold (or otherwise) he chooses to be with his strategy. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back on the sidelines, placing the onus even more squarely on the Brazilian forward's shoulders.
Betting tip
Lampard is a manager that has still to demonstrate he has the ability to lead any club under his auspices. Everton were tilting before his appointment, weighed down by years of mostly poor recruitment. Liverpool are not going to do their close neighbours whatsoever, and betway have odds of 2.90 for another game where the Reds score over 3.5 goals.
