Darwin Núñez to keep up impressive start for Reds
Liverpool will be looking to keep close to Manchester City in the early fixtures of the 2022/2023 Premier League campaign when they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield. Patrick Vieira's visitors performed well in their opener with Arsenal, but ultimately lost 2-0. Things won't get any easier for them on Merseyside, especially given how well new striker Darwin Núñez is doing for the Reds. Read our preview here:
High Nún
Though different in playstyle, Núñez has carried on where Sadio Mané left off before the Senegalese superstar departed. His introduction against Fulham brought Jürgen Klopp's men back into a game they were trailing, so expect him to start after slightly more than a week's rest. Elsewhere, Thiago is a big loss in midfield, which could precipitate Harvey Elliott's inclusion on the right of the trio. The youngster recently extended his contract and will be looking to make a good impression with the first team opportunities he's handed.
The de-Clyne of Nathan
The only big change in the visitors' matchday squad will be Sam Johnstone on the bench. Jack Butland remains out, so the former will be there in case anything happens to Vicente Guaita. With James Tomkins still out, Nathaniel Clyne is a cert to slot in at right-back. The 31 year old once turned out in front of the Kop, but has struggled for injury and form in the past few years. Luis Díaz is not therefore the ideal opponent for him, but he still maintains a high level of concentration. Up top, Jean-Philippe Mateta might come in for fellow French player Odsonne Édouard.
Betting tip
betway have odds of 3.60 for Núñez to grab the first goal of the night.
