Liverpool to overcome Spurs
Tottenham have really struggled for consistency so far this season. Will they be able to get anything against the team they lost to in the Champions League final? Have a read of our preview here:
Chopping and changing not helping Pochettino
One thing that never helps a team is changing players too often. This is a general rule of thumb but rings true in most cases and Tottenham’s boss appears to be unsure of his best XI so far this season.
Spurs made seven changes to their starting XI for the game against Watford - their most between two Premier League games in a season in Premier League history.
It almost backfired completely but for a late Alli equaliser and it is this inconsistency in selection that is reflected in results on the pitch. Spurs have been up and down more times than a yo-yo in a lift.
The last three results in the league read draw, loss, win and the three prior to that? You guessed it, loss, win, draw which followed a run of loss, draw, win. You really couldn’t write this stuff, although I’m doing it right now, but you get my point.
Talk of Pochettino getting the sack is, however, completely stupid and epitomises modern football’s reactionary habits and lack of brain cells in an emotional sport. He is a fantastic coach who has a lot less to spend each summer than his counterparts at the other big six clubs in the Premier League (with the exception of Chelsea this season of course).
Tottenham will come good – they always do - but it is unlikely that they will challenge for a title at any point during the current campaign.
Liverpool remain unbeaten
Even though the season is still young, it is fair to say that the title is already Liverpool’s to lose. The Reds have a nice six-point cushion and are unbeaten following last weekend’s draw at Old Trafford.
They are a formidable team and may have finally put together a squad capable of winning the Premier League – something they have somehow failed to do since the English top division was rebranded in 1992.
Jurgen Klopp won’t be letting anyone get carried away but if they continue doing what they are doing, surely it is only a matter of time.
Liverpool v Tottenham betting tip
With Spurs on a poor run of form it is hard to look beyond Liverpool in this one. That is why we are backing the Reds to win on Sunday at odds of 18/35.
