Like clockwork
I've had a good run of late with 7 out of 8 bets coming off (excluding the tip I have out for tonights game). My strategy so far has been to place slightly more 'conservative bets' with higher units. Most of the odds I have gone for have been around 4/7. This weekend I'm going to treat myself.
Mané time
Sadio Mané has been on fire. The Senegalese forward has taken over the goalscoring mantle from Salah in recent weeks, even bagging a brace against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Whilst watching him for Liverpool I've noticed a pattern that raised my interest.
In the past six games in which Liverpool have scored, Sadio Mané has scored between the 20th and the 29th minute in all of them.
- Fulham vs. Liverpool (1-2) 26th minute
- Bayern Munich vs. Liverpool (1-3) 26th minute
- Liverpool vs. Burnley (4-2) 29th minute
- Everton vs. Liverpool (0-0)
- Liverpool vs. Watford (5-0) 20th minute
- Man Utd vs. Liverpool (0-0)
- Liverpool vs. Bayern Munich (0-0)
- Liverpool vs. Bournemouth (3-0) 26th minute
- West Ham vs. Liverpool (1-1) 24th minute
He opened the scoring in five out of these six matches and opened the scoring between the 20-30 minute on four occasions.
Staying Alive
I find this a tough game to call in terms of a winner. Liverpool are favourites but Spurs remain a well oiled machine, capable of beating anyone on their day. I think this will be a tight game, but both teams will need to go for three points to stay in the title race. So I think a mix of caution with a need-to-score attitude is the perfect concoction for a goal around the 20-30 minute mark.
I think Spurs in particular will be wary of Liverpool's blitzkrieg style openings, something the Klopp has reigned in this season. So I doubt we will see a very early goal.
Spurs
It's not just Mané who comes up with the goods around the 20-30 minute mark. Kane has a habit of opening the scoring in this period. In their last match against Southampton he opened the scoring in the 26th minute. He's also done it against Chelsea (26th minute) and Huddersfield (25th minute), as has Son, for example, against Arsenal (20th minute).
I see Liverpool scoring first but if Spurs manage to, then I see the 20-30 minute period as a likely window.
Betting tip
It's a bit out there, but I think betting on the first goal during this window at odds of 7/2 to be pretty decent value. Unfortunately I could only find the time period 21-30 minutes, but I'll take it. This will be my riskier bet after so many wins in a row. Next week back to the straight and narrow!
