Leicester strong enough to get unders up?
Three clean sheets on the bounce have hauled Leicester City out of the Premier League relegation zone, however the chances of a fourth consecutive shutout are very slim with Manchester City arriving at the King Power Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
Wout Faes and Daniel Amartey have struck up an impressive understanding at the heart of defence and their task may be made a touch simpler with Pep Guardiola’s men having to deal with midweek Champions League action ahead of the early kick-off.
Understandably the visitors are overwhelming favourites even with their midweek action, Guardiola’s men will likely be fancied by the bookmakers in every match they play this season, such is their outstanding process in both boxes.
Process
The Erling Haaland effect has seen City overperform significantly in the final third so far this term, finding the net 36 times in 11 matches from chances equating to 25.4 expected goals (xG) for.
Still a very healthy process at 2.31 xGF per game, but not as sensational as the goals scored column may suggest.
The Foxes have had good days in taking on City in the not too distant past and Brendan Rodgers will likely aim to utilise their speed in transition, but City are so good that that is often the only tactic that opposition sides have to lean on.
Leicester have been underperforming in their rearguard, but that has been in part down to the drop-off in quality between the sticks with Kasper Schmeichel departing for Nice in the summer.
There has been a clear improvement in recent weeks from the Foxes, and that persuades me that there may be value in an unders, with City potentially a little off 100% due to the fixture list.
That said, Guardiola can rotate in midweek with their comfortable position in the group.
Goals?
City and an unders play is my angle into this one, a risky line to tread but getting the visitors onside has to be part of my selection, if the Foxes truly have turned a corner then this is a great opportunity to show it.
