Leeds to do it the hard way on Good Friday
Leeds will look to continue their automatic promotion challenge on Good Friday but will it be as easy as you think?
Leeds looking to keep the rest at arm’s length
Leeds are desperate to return to the Premier League and they are currently just four games from making it a reality.
Back-to-back wins has put the defeat to Sheffield United behind them and now they face a Wigan side at home who they beat 2-1 earlier in the campaign.
The Whites have never lost a home league match on Good Friday (W3 D4 L0), winning 2-1 against Bolton on Good Friday last year. This season they face a Wigan side who are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Championship.
The Latics have scored in each of their last three games but have not managed to win any of them.
Wigan to get their noses in front
Paul Cooke’s side have had an issue keeping hold of the lead this season hence the league position but getting in front has not been a problem.
Wigan have taken the lead in four of their last five matches in the Championship but have won just one of the last six second-tier matches in which they’ve gone ahead (W1 D2 L3)
Leeds have allowed the first goal in three of their last five matches and will be vulnerable on the break if Wigan can get their key players on the ball.
Bielsa’s boys full of character
Everyone knows how hard Marcelo Bielsa’s side work but they are also showing they can scrap, fight and come from behind to get a result even when not at their best.
When against teams near the bottom they have often found it hard to impose their style with their opponents pressing them high up the pitch but against Rotherham and Millwall they still had the character to come back and win both matches.
They could well need this kind of grit again on Friday and will certainly need it in the final four games to make their dream of top-flight football become a reality.
Betting tip
With Wigan good at getting on the scoresheet and often before the other side it is likely that they might get ahead at Elland Road. The problem is keeping it and Leeds are a side full of character so backing Leeds to win from behind at odds of 15/2 is a very decent shout.

It was Wigan who came from behind in this one to put a huge dent in Leeds United's promotion hopes
