Leeds to be Hammered at Elland Road

Plucky start for Bielsa’s men

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side are still without a Premier League win and sit 17th in the table so far. Three points from their first five games is a far cry from the blistering form at times last season that saw Leeds finish an impressive 9th. Their last premier League game was a disappointing 1-1 draw away at Newcastle. Perhaps a midweek win on penalties against Championship Fulham in the Carabao Cup but ignite some much-needed confidence in this Leeds side. The visitors on the other hand come off of a mixed couple of results against Man United, with a dramatic 1-2 loss in the league but recovering with a 0-1 away win in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. To say they’ve been impressive this season would be an understatement.

History leans to West Ham

Elland Road played host to a fixture that saw West Ham take all three points back in December 2020 with a 1-2 win for the Hammers. West Ham did the double over Leeds last campaign and Leeds are without a win against the East Londoners since 2005, and it looks likely that history will repeat itself on Saturday. Leeds are a very tricky side to predict what they’ll do so far this season but claiming a win against West Ham after their barren run of form including what is really a draw against a Championship side in midweek, is something I can’t see happening. To add insult to literal injury, they’ll be without striker Patrick Bamford due to the latter and will also still be without Pascal Struijk who is still suspended. Meanwhile, the Hammers will be able to call upon star man Michail Antonio once more after serving his one match suspension, and betting on a goal for a fresh Antonio is a good call in my book as well.

My money’s on Moyes

West Ham’s impressive start still has potential to grow further, and I’m not even sure David Moyes’s side have hit their peak yet. I’m sure they’ll put on an entertaining show at Elland Road on Saturday. Their hectic schedule with Europa League fixtures scattered across their usual Premier League games will mean they’ll have to call on every member of their squad to step up. But their strength in depth will be tested later in the season and for now, their talented first eleven should be more than enough to see them through.

The Hammers should capitalise on a plucky Leeds side on Saturday, and the return of Michail Antonio should boost their confidence even more. That’s why I’m going with a West Ham win with bet365.
