Leeds to find Millwall tough to beat
Leeds host Millwall in what should be a cracker of a Championship match-up on Tuesday evening. Can Marcelo Bielsa’s side get their promotion back on track against Gary Rowett’s Lions? Have a read of our preview here:
Leeds starting to sweat
Leeds fans knew things won’t be simple even when they were winning every week, it’s just not the way their club do things.
There is always a wobble, always the worry and always the disappointment. Well, the latter remains to be seen but the way things have been going for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in recent weeks it has to be something fans are concerned about.
Just one win in the last seven matches has seen their lead over Fulham cut to just three points as they threaten to slide out of the automatic promotion places and, amazingly, despite this run they are still only a point behind league leaders West Brom, who have been in terrible form themselves.
Following the defeat at QPR last weekend, Bielsa reiterated his belief that a lack of confidence was not behind the result.
"I don't think there's a lack of confidence or that it's about nerves. There were moments where we lacked efficiency but I don't think this happened because of a lack of confidence.
"In football you have lots of situations you can manage and some you can't manage.
"Sometimes the ones you can't manage damage one team or are in favour of one team. Today, everything that we couldn't manage in the game was against us."
They will find Millwall a tough opponent and need Jack Harrison back in form.
Harrison has been directly involved in more goals (five goals, six assists) in the Championship than any other player for Leeds except Patrick Bamford (10 goals, two assists) this season.
He and Bamford need to find some form and you feel when they do, Leeds will start winning again.
Rowett’s Lions finding their roar
Since losing to Reading in early November Millwall have only lost once in the last 13 Championship matches.
It is a remarkable run that has seen them climb the table to within two points of the play-off places. Rowett’s side are really hard to beat and even when they are not in top form, they still manage to pick up points.
Five of the last 13 have been drawn but they have also beaten the likes of Bristol City and Swansea on the road while taking three points off Brentford at home.
This is a side with momentum behind them and they could give Leeds a torrid time on Tuesday – it is set up to be a cracker.
Leeds vs Millwall betting tip
With Leeds out of scoring form and Millwall likely to try and hit the home side on the break, there shouldn’t be a lot of scoring in this one so backing it to finish with under 2.5 goals at odds of 3/4 with betfair is a decent shout here.
