Inter firing on all cylinders for visit to Lazio
Sarri still tinkering
Saturday’s hosts are coming off the back of a disappointing 3-0 loss to Bologna and Maurizio Sarri’s men will be looking to put up more of a fight against the Serie A champions. Lazio’s very patchy start to the season has meant they’re never a safe tip on an outright, and their form is simply not consistent enough for them to challenge at the top of the table. Sarri is yet to find the perfect formula in the capital. The visitors, on the other hand, are still unbeaten after seven Serie A matches. They come off of a 1-2 comeback win at Sassuolo, with striking partnership Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez getting the job done for Inter.
Inter scoring with free will
Lazio have just one win in their last five games, and their defence has been all at sea so far this season. Ciro Immobile will thankfully be back in contention after missing Italy’s midweek game with a thigh injury. With Pedro and Felipe Anderson likely to start either side of him, Sarri’s favoured front three will be lined up to take on Inter. It’ll be quite the homecoming for former Biancocelesti manager Simone Inzaghi on Saturday, with his Inter side soaring in Serie A. Their unbeaten record is coupled with them being the highest scoring team in the league, meaning that Inzaghi has got off to a good start in trying to match the successes of his predecessor Antonio Conte. They’ve scored twice or more in every Serie A match so far, bagging 22 goals in seven games. Replacing Romelu Lukaku was never going to be easy, but Dzeko has filled that void perfect so far. Whether this purple patch of form carries on remains to be seen.
Deadly duo to score again
This should be an entertaining tie. While Lazio have their defensive faults, the home outfit will look to their form at the Stadio Olimpico to give them confidence, with a win in the Derby della Capitale and a European win before the disastrous loss to Bologna. Inter will need to be at their best, but they so often have been this season that I can see this Inter strike force taking advantage of Lazio’s suspended Francesco Acerbi at the back, with his replacements likely to be Felipe and Patric.
Lazio’s inconsistencies coupled with Inter’s blistering form leads me to believe Inter should bag at least twice in the capital. While an outright was tempted, it was too risky so that’s why I’m going with Inter to score over 1.5 goals with bet365.
