Cagey affair on the cards in final

Juventus take on Inter Milan in the final of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday evening at the Stadio Olimpico.

Inter have been one of, if not, the best teams in Serie A this season, and if they can hit the heights that they have done under Simone Inzaghi then the Old Lady will have their work cut out living with them.

Juve has recovered from a very poor start to the season results-wise under Massimiliano Allegri, and will be confident of building a push for the Scudetto next season.

Inter have far more on the line in the league though, two points behind AC Milan at the summit, suggesting that there could be more in the back of their minds depending on how this one plays out.

Background

A Coppa Italia victory would paper over the cracks of a disappointing season in Turin, and they do have a lot of big game players in their ranks.

An outright play does not entice me enough, the market is pretty spot on and therefore a goals angle seems the most sensible thing to cheer on in the final.

Federico Chiesa is a big miss for the Old Lady, the livewire forward has a huge influence on Juve becoming the holders and would have asked a lot of the Inter backline.

Lautaro Martinez is the most exciting attacking player on display, and the Argentinian has led the line extremely well, making up for Romelu Lukaku’s summer departure to Chelsea.

With end of season tension in the air, both managers could take a more pragmatic approach, backing the quality in their squad to prevail in a low margin game.

Goals?

It has to be unders, a classic cup final play, Inter will not want to over-exert and Juve are weakened by player availability in the attacking third.

  • Juve have scored in eight of ten.

  • Juve have conceded in eight of ten.

  • Juve have seen both teams score in six of ten.

  • Juve have seen over 2.5 goals in six of ten.

  • Inter have scored in all of their last 12.

  • Inter have conceded in seven of ten.

  • Inter have seen both teams score in seven of ten.

  • Inter have seen over 2.5 goals in six of ten.
