Inter to bounce back in Turin
With eight games remaining, Juventus have the chance to announce themselves as fashionably late to the Serie A title race if they can beat Inter Milan on Sunday evening.
Inter have been title favourites for most of the season but have fallen away at a crucial time and need to make up for lost time against the Old Lady.
Simone Inzaghi’s men have been by far and away the best attacking team in the division this season but have not been able to cut loose recently.
Inter supporters will be hoping that the international break will see them return in a fresher headspace to kick-off their title charge with a huge result in Turin.
Process
Inter have scored 62 goals from 64.5 expected goals (xG) for this season at an average of 2.22 xGF per game.
However, the reason they have not run away with the Scudetto for the second season in a row, is because they have not been as watertight at the back as some of the teams around them.
Inter have overperformed to concede just 24 goals from 31.6 xGA at 1.09 xGA per game.
Juventus have been solid but not outstanding this season, Massimiliano Allegri’s men have done well to recover from a poor start and should be able to hold of Atalanta, Roma and Fiorentina to finish in the top four, unless all of the top three experience some major finishing line nerves, it is too late for the Old Lady to make a late dash for title.
Goals?
Both sides have regressed to see plenty go unders of late, but I prefer an outright play here.
Juve have scored in nine of ten.
Juve have conceded in seven of ten.
Juve have seen both teams score in six of ten.
Juve have seen over 2.5 goals in four of ten.
Inter have scored in six of ten.
Inter have conceded in five of ten.
Inter have seen both teams score in three of ten.
Inter have seen over 2.5 goals in one of ten.
Inter could get a little desperate as their grip on the title begins to slip, but they are still in a good position and a positive result at Juve should restore plenty of belief.
