Inter's chance to gain a march on Friday evening
Serie A’s rock bottom side, Salernitana, arrive at San Siro on Friday evening providing Inter Milan with a chance to push back up to the summit of the table.
Simone Inzaghi’s men remain outright favourites to retain the Scudetto but the margins are incredibly fine with 36 points left up for grabs for Inter.
Napoli are top on goal difference, tied on points with AC Milan, Inter are two behind but with a game in hand and Juventus sit five points behind them in fourth place.
Inter’s goalscoring prowess has slowed a touch and they will have to improve to realise their goal, however their processes in both boxes have been so strong this season, that the supporters can remain confident that their form will turn.
Process
Inter have the best attack in the division, which is a fantastic achievement after losing players of the calibre of Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi in the summer.
Lautaro Martinez, Edin Dzeko and Hakan Calhanoglu have been particularly dangerous, not prolific, but will be expected to make game winning contributions in the crunch fixtures to come.
Salernitana have been a little unfortunate to concede 56 goals from 46.4 expected goals (xG) against this season, and although they are likely to finish at the foot of the table, they have been competitive in patches and will relish the occasion on Friday evening.
The visitors are very poor going forward and have struggled to create chances for the majority of the season, the Inter backline will sense the opportunity to keep another clean sheet in front of their home crowd.

The goal line is very high which surprised me, however given that Inter could have the game wrapped up with time to spare, an element of unpredictability keeps into a goals angle.
