Swedes to lead in Greece
Both unbeaten, technically
Sweden come into this game firmly second in Group B, sitting just one point behind Spain with two games in hand. Three wins from three, the very definition of a perfect start with just one goal conceded from these games. Wins against both Georgia and Kosovo seemed inevitable, but an impressive 2-1 victory against the Spaniards last Thursday has sent quite the statement out to the rest of the group. Greece have also played just three games and are also unbeaten. However, three draws from these games sees them just second from bottom in the group. But a surprise win here against Sweden would see them sit just three points behind the Swedes.
Contrasting performances
The 2-1 victory over Spain should have confidence soaring through this Sweden side. Despite an opener from Carlos Soler, a quick fire back from young star Alexander Isak just a minute later set up a winner for Viktor Claesson just before the hour mark to seal a very impressive win. Sweden and Spain actually both played out a fairly forgettable 0-0 draw back in June in the European Championships, so Sweden certainly feel like they have the upper hand against Spain. Against Greece, I can see this upper hand going even further. A draw last time out for Greece away in Kosovo means they’re still without a win and still very much without much attacking impetus. In that game, they only recorded four shots and lost out on the possession battle by quite some margin. Not creating chances will be Greece’s downfall if they aren’t to qualify from this group. Being outplayed by the slightly plucky Kosovans and escaping with just a point cant be a good sign for Greece coming into a game against this imperious Sweden outfit.
Young Swedish stars to shone bright
Greece’s solidarity at the back is their one saving grace. But conceding three goals in three games is hardly something to write home about. The bookies fancy this game to be quite tight, with Sweden priced at this point means they definitely can see the visitors being frustrated on Wednesday. However, with attacking talents such as Dejan Kulusevski and Alexander Isak at your disposal, I find it hard to see Sweden being held scoreless in Greece. Sweden should look to go top in Group B with a win, and that’s exactly what I see them getting from this game.
Sweden come into this game on excellent form. Coming up against a patchy Greece side, I can see them taking all three points here. That’s why I’m going with a Sweden win with bet365
