Spain out for revenage against Germany in Udine
Germany left it late to secure their place in the final but Spain cruised past France to set up an intriguing final. Will Spain avenge their defeat in 2017? Read our preview here:
Germany being very German
Never back against a German. They are a nation renowned for their ruthless efficiency and it appears to be rubbing off even on their U21 side. Heading into the last minutes of the game in their semi-final against Romania the score was poised at 2-2 but two goals in stoppage time saw the Germans get the win their performance deserved.
Romania can be proud of their performance at these finals but, in the end, the German’s quality shined through. During a six-goal semi-final Stefan Kuntz side outshot their Eastern European opponents 24 to 14 but relied on two late strikes to get the job done.
Star quality shines through for Germany
Germany clearly have some gifted players but in Gian-Luca Waldschmidt they have an individual who has the ability to be one of the country’s leading marksmen for years to come.
Waldschmidt’s brace in the semi-final was just another example of his finishing ability and takes him to six for the tournament and means he has scored in every game.
The Freiburg striker could see his stock rise after such a fine performance in Italy and he will be a key man if Germany are to beat the impressive Spaniard.
Spain making it look easy
Not many sides could breeze past the French in the way Spain did in their semi-final but Luis de la Fuente’s charges were excellent and produced a performance that was a joy to watch.
They did fall behind to an early penalty but that only spurred them on an, in the end, they made it look easy. Their ability to create chances was a joy to behold and they outshot the French 19 to eight.
Pablo Fornals, West Ham’s new £24m signing, showed exactly why the London club are so happy to have him. He was excellent and although he didn’t score he had a big influence on the outcome and will be very interesting to watch in the Premier League this season.
Spain have now lost just once in their last 10 matches winning eight and scoring 29. They will be looking to avenge their 2017 defeat to the Germans when the two sides meet in Udine on Sunday.
Germany U21 v Spain U21 Euro Championship final betting tip
With both these sides in impressive form, it is difficult to pick a winner however, backing both teams to score at odds of 4/6 is a no brainer and is our sure-fire tip for this one.
