Les Bleus home and dry
Finland yet to secure playoff spot
The hosts are looking to secure a win against the world champions to ensure they finish ahead of Ukraine to claim the much-touted World Cup Qualifying Playoff spot. A loss or even a draw could open the door for Ukraine to overtake them on the final day of Group D. Finland got the job done against Bosnia & Herzegovina on Saturday, claiming an impressive 3-1 win in Zenica. Despite going down to 10-men in the first half thanks to a horror tackle on Bosnia's Saed Kolasinac, an opener from Marcus Forss, followed by Robin Lod's goal just after the half and a late security goal from Daniel O'Shaughnessy meant that Finland are within touching distance of a shot at going to the World Cup in Qatar. While Finland can't claim top spot in their group, they've put themselves in a good spot to try and cause an upset in Helsinki and beat France to secure their second place position.
France have booked their spot in Qatar already
Being unbeaten in their group, there was little doubt over France's route to the World Cup finals. Four point is what splits them and Tuesday nights hosts. But, this isn't the game for Didier Deschamps to ease off of the gas. They will be determined to continue their imperious form beyond these group stages and carry it on into the build up to Qatar, so a win against the next highest placed team in the group would be statement, despite already having qualified in top spot. An 8-0 battering of Kazakhstan at the Parc des Princes, a game played on the six-year anniversary of the horrific Paris terror attacks, showed France's strong mentality. Kylian Mbappe helped himself to four goals, with Karim Benzema grabbing a brace and Adrien Rabiot and Antoine Griezmann topping up in the thrashing of Kazakhstan. In such unwavering form, it's tricky to look past France totting up another win in Finland on Tuesday, and I can see them doing this in an assured manner despite the importance of this fixture to the hosts.
France's immense wealth of footballing talent means that they'll start every game they play as favourites to win. But with some fairly favourable odds here, I think going with Les Bleus to win is a smart choice. That's why I'm going with France to win with bet365.
