Tottenham to underline top table dreams at Chelsea
The first big London derby of the 2022/2023 Premier League season is set to take place at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in the blazingly hot sunshine. Chelsea squeezed past a dogged Everton side in their opening fixture, whilst Tottenham Hotspur came from a goal down to swat aside Southampton 4-1. Read our preview here:
Koul as you like
Jorginho's penalty was enough to get that win, whilst the days since have seen striker Timo Werner end a disappointing spell with the Blues to return to RB Leipzig. Thomas Tuchel has made little secret of his desire to get both another forward and another centre back, the latter position owing more to an exodus of emerging talent this time last year. Former Napoli stopper Kalidou Koulibaly is already in situ, and was enjoying a fine debut before cramp forced him off. He should be back to lead the rearguard action against the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, whilst Marc Cucurella will be available from the bench to provide serious competition to Ben Chilwell.
Too Kul for school
Despite the four-goal salvo, neither Kane nor Son were on the scoresheet whilst Richarlison was serving a ban. The ex-Everton mainstay will likely have to settle for a spot on the bench, with Antonio Conte having little reason to change an impressive performance from the starting XI last weekend. Dejan Kulusevski grabbed one and set up another, demonstrating that the threats Spurs have now extend far beyond the usual duo from both a creative and finishing point of view. Clement Lenglet could make the substitutes.
