Seagulls in for a rough flight
Chelsea welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge on matchday 6 of the English Prem. Both teams saw midweek action in the Carabao Cup but had very differing outcomes with Chelsea being the fortunate ones but can they keep the momentum up and bag their first home win or will Brighton take their second away win of the season?
Chelsea
Lampard fielded a strong starting xi against Grimsby Town on Wednesday which subsequently led to a 7-1 rout. Starting with such a strong side could be indicative of Lampard wanting more minutes in order for the team to 'gel' together and get more used to each other and he will most definitely be pleased with what he saw despite the weak opposition.
Chelsea are winless at home in all competitions (2 draws and 2 defeats) but if there is any game where that can change it should be this one. Despite their shabby home record they have in fact performed very admirably and were the better side in all games, even against Liverpool in my opinion.
The blues have beaten Brighton on all 10 occasions prior to this one and not much points to this game ending any differently meaning that it looks like the good times are (maybe) coming back to the Bridge!
Brighton & Hove Albion
The Seagulls kicked off their season with an inspired win at Watford but have since then hit a rather big snag. They are winless in their last 5 league games (2 defeats) and were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup at home against fellow strugglers Aston Villa this past Wednesday.
Graham Potter has, in all honesty, not much to work with after a rather quiet summer transfer-window and those problems are vastly exasperated by their disturbingly long injury-list. 4 players have definitely been ruled out and another 5 are big doubts, all of which are potential starting xi players leaving coach Potter with squad selection headache.
This was on full display this past Wednesday when they fell to Aston Villa at home with 1-3 after a ghastly display. I do however believe that this is directly correlated with their lengthy injury-list and that once they get those players back the results will follow but unfortunately for Brighton, that is still a ways away.
Betting tip
Its time for Chelsea to bag their first home win which is why i will be backing a Chelsea Win at 43/100 with Bethard.
Another good bet is Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals at the fine odds of 1/1
