Klopp's men looking to make history
Sunday's Carabao Cup final sees the Reds try and lift the league cup for a record ninth time. Standing in their way are Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea side, who are building up a reputation for turning up in big cup ties.
Sturdy Chelsea on the hunt for more silverware
The Blues are pretty much out of the running for the Premier League title now. A Carabao Cup triumph on Sunday would soften the blow of this slightly, and add to Tuchel's fast-growing trophy cabinet.
Last three results:
Chelsea 2-1 Palmeiras (12.02.22)
Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea (19.02.22)
Chelsea 2-0 Lille (22.02.22)
Recent form has been steady for Tuchel's side. Their win on Tuesday in the Champions League at home to French champions Lille was to be expected. But their dominance in victory shows how well versed this side is when it comes to getting the job done.
Especially in cup competitions. Tuchel has a real knack for thriving under pressure, allowing him to set up his sides to edge out a victory by any means possible.
Liverpool will be a completely different test altogether however.
Klopp's men out for League Cup revenge
The last time Liverpool reached the league cup final, they lost 3-1 on penalties to Manchester City back in 2016. Jurgen Klopp will be hell bent on going one step further this time round.
Last three results:
Inter 0-2 Liverpool (16.02.22)
Liverpool 3-1 Norwich City (19.02.22)
Liverpool 6-0 Leeds United (23.02.22)
The Reds have been on a rampage recently, currently on a six-match winning streak. Six was also the magic number on Wednesday when Klopp's side dismantles Leeds 6-o at Anfield.
Without Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino, Klopp will once again look to his star wingers Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for the goals. New boy Luis Diaz could also have a big impact in this tie, with the Colombian's arrival looking to be frugal business from Liverpool.
The Verdict:
While Chelsea have become renowned for being final specialists, and Tuchel won't make it easy for Klopp's men by any means, I simply can't look past Liverpool's ballistic strike force to turn up on the big occasion.
That's why I'm going with Liverpool To Win with bet365.
