City to go top?
Title chasing Manchester City travel to Burnley on Wednesday night during the Prems gameweek 22. Both teams will be in comparatively high spirits given their current runs of form but will that be enough for Burnley?
Burnley
The Clarets are coming off the back of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea, however, that is following three successive victories against the likes of Liverpool(!), Aston Villa and Fulham.
Huge improvement
Burnley have won four of their last eight games, with the remaining four ending in defeat which is a vast improvement given how bad they were looking just weeks ago.
Sean Dyche's men will be relieved to have put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone given how dire their situation was during the beginning of the season. During that time, Burnley did not register a single win in their first seven outings and amassed the unflattering goal difference of 3-12.
The question is, will Burnley emulate their performance against Liverpool or will they be forced to capitulate to this rampant Manchester City side?
Manchester City
The Citizens are currently on a fantastic run of form consisting of ten wins and two draws, a run spanning back to the end of November. The Sky Blues lead the table over local rivals Manchester United due to a superior goal difference, however, the Citizens have two games in hand which could ultimately result in a six point gap between first and second place.
Well-oiled machine
All in all, Pep Guardiola's men are looking like the real deal this year mixing efficient and fluid attacking play with very solid defensive displays, resulting in the goal difference of 37-13, the absolute best in the league.
However, a cause for concern is the hamstring strain star player De Bruyne was exposed to during their game against Aston Villa a couple of weeks ago. The Belgian talisman has been directly involved in 12 of City's league goals (3 goals, 9 assists), which is roughly a third of all the goals City has managed to score this season. City have, so far at least, coped quite well without their vice-captain but the question is, can they keep that up?
