The winner takes it all
This is the game all have been waiting for as Borussia Dortmund need to win in order to overtake current leaders Bayern. Can the side from the Ruhr make this a title race to remember? Have a read of our preview here:
There is no stopping the yellow freight train
With their impressive 2-0 at Wolfsburg in the bag, Dortmund prepare to face title rivals Bayern Munich on Tuesday on the back of a run that has seen them win six straight games and nine of their last 10.
They have been in unstoppable form and have convinced many that it is they, not Bayern, who should be considered favourites for the Bundesliga title.
That argument certainly has logic, but history dictates that the side from Bavaria are made of stern stuff and their record of 14 titles since the turn of the millennium could easily extend to 15 by the end of the current campaign.
Dortmund, though, are playing energetic and entertaining football and managed to beat Wolfsburg at the weekend without England star Jadon Sancho in the starting line-up, who was deemed fit but not worth risking ahead of their big clash on Tuesday.
He will almost certainly make a return to startling XI against Bayern having made a 25-minute cameo on Saturday, but this Dortmund side are blessed with great depth and an exceptional squad.
Wing-back Raphael Guerreiro has been excellent on the left-hand side, offering a goal threat which saw him net again versus Wolfsburg. The 26-year old has bagged eight goals during the current campaign with only Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Erling Haaland netting more.
Lucien Favre’s men mean business and all eye will be on this one come Tuesday.
Bayern’s strategy will be key
Bayern saw Dortmund briefly cut their lead at the top to just a single point on Saturday, reminding them, as if they needed it, that this race is far from won.
Bayern are the side many will be backing simply because their record speaks for itself but they will be respectful of Favre’s side coming into this one.
Their impressive 5-2 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday highlighted the options and ability they have going forward while also reopening the four-point gap over Dortmund.
It will be interesting to see how Han-Dieter Flick set up the Bavarians for such an important game. Not having the crowd in the stadium will see home advantage vastly diminished but he should be careful about sitting too deep.
Bayern have a good record in important games against Dortmund and the general pattern has seen Munich win when they attack their opponents. This is how we expect to see them approach this one too.
Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich betting tip
With a title at stake, it is hard to see Bayern sitting back and hoping they can nap a point. No, this one feels like it will be an open, attacking game so we are backing both teams to score at odds of 1.4 with bet365.
