Rover and out for Blackburn's top two hopes
Blackburn Rovers must turn around their poor run of form if they are to continue upsetting pre-season predictions of doom and gloom when they visit West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Monday evening. Read our preview here:
One man went to Mow
Journeyman manager Steve Bruce has been brought in to arrest the hosts' own slide down the EFL Championship standings. With only one win since early December, the Baggies are now outside of the play-off, and have four players unavailable for Monday's big clash. Jake Livermore's early red card during the weekend's 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United means Jayson Molumby will partner Alex Mowatt at the base of the 4-2-3-1. In similar fashion to recent results, the midfield schemer has endured a tough time of late, but his progressive passing through multiple phases of play will be crucial to providing a platform to service new face Andy Carroll up top.
Whart a relief
Though boss Tony Mowbray has never enjoyed universal popularity at Ewood Park, even his most ardent critics would be hard pressed to not praise his efforts this term. Their presence near the top has largely been built on the goalscoring exploits of Chilean international Ben Brereton Díaz, though it would be a mistake not to cite others, too. Left-sided centre back Ben Wharton has been an impressive figure in the side, and he'll need to be on top of his game to shut down Callum Robinson on his flank.
Betting tip
Neither side are in good nick at present, and Bruce is still finding his feet in his new post. betway have odds of 3.50 for a draw that will make Blackburn's tilt at the top two seem ever more distant.
