Red Devils to avoid Egypt friendly upset
Belgium will conclude their preparations for the 2022 Qatar World Cup with a friendly encounter against Egypt at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City on Friday. Read our preview here:
Garden of Eden
With Leandro Trossard ruled out of the clash, Eden Hazard will get another opportunity to demonstrate he is not yet a spent force on the international scene, even if the upcoming tournament is likely to be his last major one. The Real Madrid inside forward has had club starts severely restricted through simply not being selected rather than injury worries this campaign, but he remains a key component of national team boss Roberto Martínez's setup. Michy Batshauyi is set to lead the line in the absence of Romelu Lukaku - the 29 year old has had somewhat of a renaissance in the colours of Turkish giants and league leaders Fenerbahçe in 2022/2023.
In the Mahmoud to shine
Rui Vitória only took up the reins with the Pharaohs back in July, but he has overseen two wins from two games to date. Mo Salah will be aiming to score his 50th goal for the beaten AFCON finalists. Elsewhere, experienced centre back Mahmoud Alaa will be hoping to keep the likes of Batshauyi quiet in order to strengthen his starting spot in a side that rarely gives up goals, the friendly with South Korea (before Vitória's appointment) aside.
