Bayern set to embarrass Barca once again
Formidable Bayern already through
Julian Nagelsmann's side have been, as expected, very impressive in this Champions League campaign so far. They are guaranteed the top spot in Group E, with their Wednesday night visitors and Benfica sat significantly far behind. The Der Klassiker at the weekend was highly controversial due to Mats Hummels giving away a penalty that former Dortmund man Robert Lewandowski coolly tucked away to win 3-2. The game was somewhat overshadowed by Jude Bellingham's post-match comments, suggesting that referee Felix Zwayer wasn't fit to referee the biggest game in German football. Nonetheless, Bayern came out on top and stay top of the Bundesliga. The German champions have fared impressively so far in Europe too, scoring the most games in the group stages out of any team in the competition, with nineteen goals in their five games. All wins, of course, Bayern are really running away with this group. The aforementioned Robert Lewandowski has been on fire this season for Bayern, and I'm sure he'll have a say in this game against Barca too. His unbelievable eye for goal combined with this Bayern's side fast attacking play has been the perfect marriage. He's continued to thrive for Bayern under Nagelsmann and is a major reason why they've been so successful. Winning eight of their nine home games in all competitions this season is a sign that, while Bayern haven't been entirely faultless this season, they're still Europe's top dog across all tournaments.
Barca destined for the Europa League
Two 1-0 wins to scrape past Dynamo Kyiv, who prop up Group E, isn't the vintage Bracelona we're used to seeing on the European stage. On top of this, those two goals across the two games against Kyiv were the only two that the Catalans have bagged in these group stages. New manager Xavi was unbeaten as boss until this weekend, as winger Juanmi pushed Real Betis over the line at the Camp Nou. He also had a goal disallowed for offside, showing Barcelona's weaknesses that are still clear despite Xavi's anticipated overhaul. Despite an impressive 3-1 win away at Villarreal, Braca still sit some 16 points behind Real Madrid in the La Liga. In Europe, they've struggled massively. Goals in short supply, and a real danger of slipping into the Europa League. If Barca fail to win away at the Allianz, and Benfica win at bottom side Dynamo Kyiv, then the Portuguese club will go into the Champions League knockout stages, therefore relegating Barca into third spot. Bayern blitzed Wednesday's visitors in the reverse fixture, winning 3-0 on the night. It could have easily been even more, with Bayern absolutely dominating Koeman's men at the time. While times are changing at the Camp Nou, this rebuilding Barcelona outfit are unlikely to be a match for a formidable Bayern.
There's a rich history between these two sides, with Bayern dominating Barca over the past few years. At the Allianz, Bayern are almost completely unflappable. That's why I'm going with a Bayern Munich win with bet365.
