Can Milan get over the final two hurdles?
AC Milan need to win their final two encounters of the domestic season to win Serie A for the first time in 11 years.
Stefano Pioli has performed extremely well at the club and they could achieve what they have been striving for in the next couple of weeks.
However, there are some high hurdles in the way of Milan in the form of Atalanta and Sassuolo, where Inter Milan, two points behind with a superior goal difference, face Cagliari and Sampdoria.
Many were expecting Milan to fall away and allow Inter to defend their title by now, so they deserve a lot of credit, even if they do pick up the Scudetto, for taking it this deep in the season given the make-up of their squad.
Process
La Dea have not been as strong this season under Gian Piero Gasperini, experiencing a somewhat predictable drop-off due to their high intensity style of play, but also the loss of Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez has begun to show in a bigger way.
Atalanta have scored more goals than the league leaders this season, as is their way of playing, but the key loss of Cristian Romero has seen them struggle for effective defensive solidity.
With shrewd additions in the summer window, as is almost always the case in Bergamo, Atalanta could be a lot more dangerous in Serie A next term without any European distractions.
La Dea’s attacking intent should make the game a little less nervy for Milan, aware of the spaces in behind that they can exploit.
This match will be an intriguing test of Milan’s backline and its credentials of taking them to the title, they are likely to have to score more than one to take maximum points.

Inter will be buoyant from their Coppa Italia win and are expected to pick up six points from their remaining couple, the occasion may weigh on the shoulders of Milan in this one.
