Willem can easily account for stuttering Sittard
Willem II’s playoff hopes have improved dramatically in recent weeks and the Eredivisie high fliers can further enhance those claims with a comfortable win over struggling Sittard this Saturday.
Happy Hunting
Sittard travel to the Koning Willem II Stadion having shipped 34 goals in their last 10 games including four, five and six nil defeats in their last 7 fixtures. Their defence has conceded a total of 61 goals in 26 games this season, a feat only bettered by Breda who have managed 62. They have won one of their last five in the league and enter the game nervously looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone knowing another defeat could leave them just one point from safety entering the run in.
Willem II on the other hand come into this game bang in form and full of confidence. Young Swedish superstar Aleksander Isak has bagged four goals in his last three games and won his 3rdand 4thcaps over the international break which will only serve to enhance his confidence further.
Adrie Koster’s team enter this weekend having won four of their last five and three on the spin at home. This spurt also includes an away win to Feyenoord last time out so this couldn’t be more a tale of two teams trending in different directions. While Willem’s last clean sheet came back in January, that coincided with their last significant run of good form and in that time the managed to tighten the ship and go three consecutive games without conceding a goal.
Manager's View
Or in this case ex manager. Sunday Oliseh suggested upon his dismissal in 2018 that he was axed due to a failure to commit to illegal activities while at the club. The tweet upon his dismissal read:
"Due to my refusal to participate in Illegal activities at Fortuna sittard & violate the Law,i have been Suspended from my duties as Coach by the Foreign Owners of Fortuna.Unfortunate for the lovely fans, my players & our hard fought phenomenal positioning for Promotion"
Betting Tip
Both teams have been conceding a few goals lately but Sittard’s has been a worrying slide and Willem II would appear to have the tools to correct their leaks and have been playing a higher standard of opponent. Willem II have an in form striker in Aleksander Isak and Sittard’s defenders just won’t have the answer for him. I’m willing to give Koster the benefit of being able to tight up the back four during the break and take Willem II -1 at a tasty 13/8 with Paddy Power.
