League leaders backable on the road
Vancouver Whitecaps are in action in the early hours of Sunday morning as they look to close the gap between themselves and the play-off places in the Western Conference.
However, they have one of the toughest matches in the fixture list in taking on Los Angeles FC.
The visitors lead the West with a seven-point cushion over second place and will fancy their chances against a Vancouver side that have been less than impressive going forward this campaign.
LAFC have won their last two matches by a two-goal margin and therefore it was a surprise to see them above evens heading into this match-up.
Process
LAFC have overperformed in the final third to score 35 goals from 30.9 expected goals (xG) for so far this season from 17 outings.
The visitors are averaging 1.82 xGF per game compared to the Caps’ measly 1.14.
LAFC are also content keeping things tight at the back if their attacking contingent is not completely firing, conceding just 18 from 17 games and allowing 17.3 xGA in the process, limiting the opposition to 1.02 xGA per game on average.
The Whitecaps have conceded 28 goals from 27.6 xGA, allowing 1.62 xGA per game on average, and the visitors will not need a second invitation to make hay in this one.
In spite of their poor attacking process, there have been plenty of goals in the Caps recent matches, and that will spur the visitors on further, well-placed to put themselves on the right side of a goal-laden game.
Goals?
The outright price was so juicy that I did not consider a goals angle.
With LAFC capable of shoring things up defensively they are a fairly large price above evens on their travels.
