Entertainment in Udine
Bologna arrive in Udine looking to push themselves firmly into the top half of Serie A. Often one of the more entertaining sides to follow as a neutral, the visitors will fancy their chances of picking up three points despite Udinese coming in as narrow favourites. Both sides lost key players in Takehiro Tomiyasu and Rodrigo De Paul this summer with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid being their new homes. Gone are the days of Serie A being a defensive division. There has been a high average goal line over the last few seasons and hopefully this matchup will follow that trend.
Process
The hosts have scored nine goals from ten expected goals (xG) so far which ranks them tenth creating chances at an average of 1.43 xGF per game. Udinese have been one of the more defensively solid sides in recent years and it has built the foundation to keep them in the division as well. They have conceded 11 from 10.5 xGA, ranking them eighth and conceding 1.5 xGA per game on average.
Bologna have scored 12 from 10.3 xGF putting them eight in the table but also has them at 1.47 xGF per game, a little greater attacking threat than the hosts. Bologna have conceded 14 from 10.7 xGA, a bit of an underperformance and are ranked ninth which is 1.53 xGA per game, a tad more leaky than Udinese.
Goals?
My angle for this one, both clubs will be gunning for the victory.
- Udine have scored in five of eight.
- Udine have conceded in six of eight.
- Udine have seen both teams score in three of eight.
- Udine have seen over 2.5 goals in five of eight.

- Bologna have seen both teams score in five of eight.
- Bologna have seen over 2.5 goals in six of eight.
I am happy to take the overs line here with PariMatch. Bologna are well suited to playing away from home and like to hit teams on the counter attack, this could be an excellent piece of Sunday afternoon entertainment.
